Sarah Sperling

Sarah Sperling has a diverse and extensive work experience in the art industry. Sarah currently holds the position of Vice President of Museum Affairs at Cheekwood, a role they have been in since December 2022. Prior to this, Sarah was the Director of Development at Cheekwood from July 2022 to December 2022. Sarah also served as the Director of Individual Giving at Cheekwood from April 2020 to August 2022.

Before joining Cheekwood, Sarah founded their own business, Sperling Art Advisory, in 2019. Sarah was the Founder and provided full-service advisory services to individuals, corporations, and non-profits from November 2019 to April 2020. Prior to that, they were the Director of Nashville Operations at Brunk Auctions from March 2015 to November 2019.

Sarah first founded Sperling Art Advisory in 2014 and provided various art-related services such as consignments, acquisitions, collection management, research, appraisals, and conservation. Sarah tailored their services to suit each client's specific needs.

Other roles in Sarah's career include working as a Consultant for Gifts of Tangible Property at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee from October 2013 to October 2014, serving as a Gallery Manager in New York from November 2010 to August 2013, and being a Gallery Manager in New York from March 2007 to September 2009.

Sarah's early career involved working at prestigious art auction houses. Sarah was an Administrator for American Furniture and Decorative Arts at Christie's from April 2003 to March 2007, and before that, they served as a Registrar at Sotheby's Institute of Art from May 2002 to April 2003.

Sarah Sperling's education history begins in 1979 at the University School of Nashville, where they remained until 1992. During this time, they did not obtain a degree nor specify a field of study.

In 1992, Sarah attended Ithaca College and earned a Bachelor's degree in Art History. Sarah completed their studies in 1996.

Finally, from 2000 to 2002, Sarah pursued a Master's degree in History of American Decorative Arts at Parsons School of Design - The New School.
