Lead 1st Team Sports Scientist at Chelsea Football Club

Chris Searle has a diverse work experience in the field of sports science. Chris started their career as a U9-U16 Sport Science/S&C Intern at Southampton Football Club, where they were responsible for various tasks such as leading warm-ups and cool downs, providing match day sport science support, and assisting with gym sessions. Chris then moved on to work as a Part Time Football Systems Operator at Hawkeye Innovations, Inc before joining Chelsea Football Club. At Chelsea, they held multiple roles including Research and Data Assistant (Sport Science), Data Scientist, and currently serves as the Lead 1st Team Sports Scientist. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as the Higher Sports Leadership Award from HSLA and the 1st4Sport FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification from FA.

Chris Searle completed their education at St Andrews Catholic School from 2005 to 2012. Chris then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath from 2012 to 2016. Afterwards, they obtained a Master's Degree in High Performance Sport from the Australian Catholic University, where they studied from 2018 to 2020. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the Australian Catholic University, starting in 2021 and expected to finish in 2027.
