David A. Tewksbury

David A. Tewksbury is a Founder of, and principal investor in, Chelsea Piers New York, Chelsea Piers Connecticut and Chelsea Piers Fitness. He serves as Executive Vice President of Chelsea Piers New York, President of Chelsea Piers Connecticut and President of Chelsea Piers Fitness.

Chelsea Piers New York, a 1.7 million square foot waterfront destination, opened in 1995 and is widely recognized as the premier sports and recreation facility in the world. In 2011 Chelsea Piers, with over 4 million visitors, was one of the most visited sites in New York City. Chelsea Piers Connecticut, a 465,000 square foot indoor sports facility, opened in Stamford, CT in July 2012 and has quickly become the premier sports facility for Westchester and Fairfield counties. Chelsea Piers Fitness was founded in 2018 with the opening of the company’s first stand-alone fitness club in Downtown Brooklyn.

Mr. Tewksbury started his career in New York working for Cushman and Wakefield, Inc., an international commercial real estate services firm. During his ten years at Cushman and Wakefield, Mr. Tewksbury was consistently recognized as one of the company's top leasing brokers in the country.

Mr. Tewksbury graduated from Yale University in 1983 with a B.A. in Economics. At Yale he combined academics with sports and played for four years on the Yale men's ice hockey team.

Mr. Tewksbury has served as a trustee for several not-for-profit organizations in New York, including; Friends of Hudson River Park, Association for a Better New York, The Cathedral School and the Sky Rink Youth Scholarship Fund. Mr. Tewksbury is married to Linda Raia Tewksbury, M.D., a doctor of pediatric medicine and a member of the faculty of New York University Medical Center. They have three daughters and reside in New York City and Canaan, CT.
