Ryan Brown

Director, Public Sector at Chernoff Newman

Ryan Brown is a dedicated communications professional with nearly a decade of experience working in and with South Carolina’s local and state government offices and elected officials. Prior to joining Chernoff Newman, Ryan spent over seven years as Chief Communications Officer at the South Carolina Department of Education under State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman. In this senior staff role, he oversaw all agency communications, worked closely with local and state agencies, key stakeholders, the General Assembly, and served as a policy advisor to Superintendent Spearman. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the agency’s pandemic response efforts and served as the liaison with public health officials statewide. Before joining the South Carolina Department of Education in 2015, he successfully advised and managed political campaigns on the local and state level. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Ryan relocated at a young age to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina graduating from Wando High School and later moved to Columbia where he graduated from the University of South Carolina. He remains involved in politics and education, serving in various capacities for state and local organizations that advocate for and advance existing initiatives and needed reforms.
