Mike's first role in the Coast Guard was as a Machinery Technician and Small Boat Engineer/Crewman at U.S. Coast Guard Station Woods Hole from June 1994 to June 1997. In this position, they were responsible for engineering and crew duties on various boats, as well as communication watchstanding and inventory control management.

Mike Allen earned an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tacoma Community College, where they attended from 2010 to 2012.
