Jill Ferris

Jill Ferris has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Jill started their career at YMCA Camp Kenan as a Program Director, where they worked from 2003 to 2009. After that, they joined Fulbright Taiwan as a Teaching English as a Second Language instructor from 2008 to 2009. Jill then worked as an Intern at the Niagara County Historical Society in 2010 and as a Graduate Assistant at the New York State Historical Association from September 2010 to December 2010. In 2011, they had roles as an Education Intern at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and as a Camp Director at the Y of Central Maryland. From 2011 to 2016, they served as an 8th-grade Social Studies Teacher at Queen Anne's County Public Schools. In 2014, they became a Master Teacher at the Maryland State Department of Education. Starting in 2015, they joined the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, where they held various positions, including Education Intern, School and Family Programs Manager, Director of Education, and Senior Director of Engagement, Learning, & Interpretation. Currently, they are the Vice President of Education & Interpretation at the museum.

Jill Ferris has a Master of Arts degree in Cooperstown Graduate Program – History Museum Studies, which they obtained from SUNY Oneonta in the years 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Education from Colgate University between 2004 and 2008. Additionally, they hold several Advanced Professional Certificates in Elementary Education (1-6), English (7-12), and Social Studies (7-12) from the Maryland State Department of Education.
