Jacob Zeldin has a diverse range of work experience in various fields. Jacob started their career as a Research Assistant in the McCown lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they worked on large scale plant propagation and breeding. Jacob also conducted research in the Waller lab, focusing on plant identification and functional trait sampling. During this time, they received the John T. Curtis award for excellence in undergraduate research in ecology.
After their time as a research assistant, Jacob worked as an IT Helpdesk Technician for the University's General Library System, providing assistance with computing and library research issues. Jacob utilized various tools such as imaging services and Microsoft Active Directory.
Following this position, Jacob joined the Madison Audubon Society as a Restoration Ecology Intern. Here, they worked on seed collection, invasive plant removal, and rare plant surveying.
Later, Jacob became the Computer Lab and Learning Space Manager at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's MERIT department. This role involved developing and maintaining computer laboratories, deploying operating system images, and managing the security of circulating technology.
Most recently, Jacob worked at the Chicago Botanic Garden as a Research Ecologist, specializing in plant community ecology and quantitative analysis. Jacob was also responsible for formulating micro-propagation protocols and plant production for restoration relevant plant species.
Jacob Zeldin completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Botany/Plant Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2010 to 2013. Jacob then pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree in Botany/Plant Biology from Northwestern University from 2015 to 2017.
