Ellen Keith

Director of Research and Access and Chief Librarian at Chicago History Museum

Ellen Keith has extensive work experience in the field of library and information science. Ellen started their career as a Public Services/Reference Librarian at Saint Xavier University in 1994 and worked there until 1996. Ellen then served as the Library Instruction Coordinator at Columbia College Chicago from 1996 to 2000. Ellen joined Dominican University in 1998 as an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Library and Information Science, a role they held until 2002. From 2000 to 2001, they also worked as a Reference/Instruction Librarian at Illinois Institute of Technology and later became the Associate Dean for Public Services from 2001 to 2002. In 2002, Ellen joined Johns Hopkins University as the Reference Services Coordinator and Librarian for Sociology, a position they held until 2012. Since 2012, they have been working at the Chicago History Museum as the Director of Research and Access and Chief Librarian.

Ellen Keith began their education by completing their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Victorian Studies at Vassar College from 1986 to 1990. Following this, they pursued a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree with a focus on Library Science at Dominican University, which they completed in 1994. Later in their academic journey, they attended The Johns Hopkins University from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained a Master of Liberal Arts degree. The field of study for their Master of Liberal Arts degree is not specified.
