Tamela Chambers, M.Ed, MSLIS, CAS, currently serves as the District Chief for the Southwest region of the Chicago Public Library, overseeing operations for 16 branch locations and one regional library since July 2018. Previously, Tamela held various roles within the Chicago Public Library, including Branch Manager and Librarian IV for Children's Services, where responsibilities included developing programs for children and managing library operations. Tamela also worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at Chicago State University, instructing on the role of public libraries, and has extensive experience in Chicago Public Schools, serving as an After School Program Coordinator, Online Credit Recovery Mentor, Service Learning Coach, Library Media and Technology Specialist, and Media Studies Teacher. Tamela holds multiple degrees, including an MSLIS from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Education from National Louis University.
