Kaitlin Washburn

General Assignment Reporter at Chicago Sun-Times

Kaitlin Washburn is a dedicated journalist with extensive experience in various reporting roles. Currently serving as a General Assignment Reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times since June 2022, Kaitlin previously held the position of Gun Violence Reporter at The Kansas City Star from June 2020 to June 2022. Prior experience includes working as an Agriculture Reporter at The Sun-Gazette Newspaper and as a Student Researcher at Investigative Reporters and Editors. Kaitlin has also contributed to the Columbia Missourian in multiple capacities, including Copy Editor, State Government Reporter, and Public Life Reporter. Additional internships include positions with the Center for Responsive Politics, The Oregonian/OregonLive.com, and The Morning Call. Kaitlin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Print and Digital Investigative Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and participated in a study abroad program in Journalism at the University of Navarra in 2017.
