John Heffernan

Major Gifts Officer at Chicago Symphony Orchestra

John Heffernan has extensive experience in the field of music, currently serving as Donor Engagement Coordinator and Violin sub at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since September 2018. Heffernan also holds the position of Concertmaster at the West Michigan Symphony, where responsibilities include leading the violin section and enhancing the musical output. Previous roles include Violin sub for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and teaching violin at the British International School South Loop and Project88 Music Academy. As a Civic Fellow, Heffernan contributed to artistic and community engagement initiatives while serving as Concertmaster for the Civic Orchestra of Chicago to develop orchestral skills. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Roosevelt University, as well as additional qualifications in string quartet performance from Roosevelt University.
