Rev. L. Bernard Jakes

Rev. L. Bernard Jakes, D.Min. serves as the Senior Pastor and Teacher at West Point Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago since December 2001. In addition to pastoral duties, Jakes is a member of the Board of Trustees at Elmhurst University since March 2017 and currently holds the position of Midwest Regional Chaplain for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity as of July 2023. Moreover, Jakes acts as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Chicago Transit Authority since August 2019. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Ministry in Classical Spiritual Direction from United Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Ethics from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Theology from Elmhurst University.
