Katherine Gutierrez

Katherine Gutierrez is an experienced animal care professional with a strong background in zoology and animal biology, holding a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Currently serving as a Senior Animal Care Specialist at Brookfield Zoo since March 2018, Katherine primarily focuses on large carnivores and small mammal species. Prior roles at Brookfield Zoo include responsibilities with Reticulated Giraffes, Dwarf Mongooses, African Painted Dogs, and Mexican Wolves, as well as working with various hoofstock species. Katherine has also gained practical experience through internships and seasonal positions at various wildlife facilities, where responsibilities included hands-on animal care, training plan implementation, and involvement in conservation efforts.
