Melissa Farruggia has an extensive work history in the field of development and fundraising. Melissa began their career in 1994 at the Terra Museum of American Art, where they worked in education for two years. From 1996 to 1999, Melissa was the Earned Income Manager at Marwen. Melissa then moved on to the Seattle Art Museum, where they served as the Annual Fund Manager for a year. In 2000, Melissa joined The Art Institute of Chicago as the Associate Director of Individual Giving, holding this position until 2005. Following that, they joined Brookfield Zoo, gradually advancing to the role of Senior Director of Development. Throughout their tenure at Brookfield Zoo, Melissa also held positions such as Director of Principal and Campaign Gifts, Campaign Director, and Director of Individual Giving.
