Will M.

Game Designer at Chief Rebel

Will M. has a diverse work experience in the gaming industry. Will is currently working as a Game Designer at Chief Rebel since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Avalanche Studios Group from April 2018 to July 2021, where they held the positions of Lead Game Designer and Senior Game Designer. At Avalanche, they were responsible for leading the design of the game Second Extinction, working on core game systems, loops, and economies, as well as collaborating with the Art lead for character and enemy design.

Before their time at Avalanche, Will worked at Foundry 42 Ltd from November 2015 to March 2018, holding the positions of Senior System Designer and Technical Designer. At Foundry 42, they contributed to the development of the game Star Citizen, where they were involved in designing gameplay systems, writing and maintaining documentation, and being the point of contact for various gameplay systems. Additionally, they were responsible for ship role and performance design and rigging and setting up ships for gameplay.

Earlier in their career, Will worked at PLAYGROUNDSQUAD UK as a Game Design Tutor from September 2014 to July 2015, where they mentored apprentice game designers and developed teaching plans for integrating design with art and code students. Will also wrote and presented lectures on game design methodologies and processes.

Furthermore, Will worked at Evolution Studios from April 2006 to April 2014. Will held various positions including Lead Designer, Game Designer, Junior Game Designer, and QA Tester. During their time at Evolution Studios, they worked on multiple games such as an unreleased/cancelled Adventure Game, Driveclub, and MotorStorm. Will was involved in tasks such as prototyping gameplay sequences, developing game narratives, designing non-racing features, scripting AI behavior for races, providing feedback on track design, and assisting with post-launch support.

Will M. attended Shrewsbury Colleges Group from 2000 to 2002, where they pursued Computer Studies. From 2002 to 2005, they studied at The University of Bolton and graduated with a BSc in Computer Game Software Development.
