Carlynn Nichols

Chief Clinical Officer at The Children's Center of Wayne County

Carlynn Nichols brings more than 20 years of experience in human services to The Children’s Center. She began her career as a home-based therapist at Southwest Counseling Solutions, and rose to the position of Director of Children, Youth and Families during her 14-year tenure. Following Southwest Counseling Solutions, she worked as the Director of Children’s Initiatives for Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority. She was responsible for the oversight, management, development and coordination of services for youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance. In this position, she developed a comprehensive program of care for children and youth who are involved in multiple systems. In 2014, Carlynn joined the executive leadership team of The Children’s Center, where she serves as the Chief Clinical Officer. In 2016, she was elected as Vice President of Programs and Services for the National Association of Social Workers – Michigan Chapter.

Carlynn received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Michigan, and her Masters of Social Work at Wayne State University. She is a Licensed Master of Social Work in Macro and Clinical Practice, and serves as Adjunct Professor at Madonna University.
