Denise Hughes, LCSW has extensive experience in the field of social work. Denise started their career in 1992 as a Mental Health Specialist at St. Joseph's Hospital Center for Behavioral Medicine. In 1996, they joined the Children's Home Society of West Virginia as a Social Worker. During their time there, they held various roles including Shelter Social Worker, CAPS Coordinator, Internal Reviewer, Shelter Supervisor at Arthur N. Gustke Child Shelter, and Functional Family Therapist. From 2016 to 2022, Denise served as the Safe At Home Supervisor at the Children's Home Society of West Virginia. In 2018, they also took on the role of Programs Manager. Most recently, Denise has been serving as the Director of Programming at the Children's Home Society of West Virginia, starting in August 2021. Throughout their career, Denise has demonstrated strong leadership skills, overseeing staff, budgets, and facility maintenance. Denise is adept at coordinating care for youth in out-of-home placements and providing comprehensive assessments and evaluations.
Denise Hughes, LCSW, obtained their HS Diploma in College prep from Parkersburg High School in 1986. Following that, they attended Marshall University from 1986 to 1988, majoring in Psychology. In 1990, Denise enrolled in Glenville State College and completed their BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with Concentrations in English, Social Work, and Psychology in 1992. Later on, they pursued their Graduate Masters in Social Work at West Virginia University from 2009 to 2012, earning their MSW degree.
