Jenae Vancura

Lead Medical Scribe at Children's Hospital of Orange County

Jenae Vancura has a diverse range of work experience in various healthcare and educational settings. Jenae has worked as a Lead Medical Scribe at CHOC Children's since August 2022 and previously served as a Medical Scribe from August 2020 to June 2021. Jenae also held the role of Innovation Fellow at The Sharon Disney Lund Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute at CHOC Children's from June 2021 to July 2022. As an Intern at the institute, they explored medical innovation in various areas and conducted shadowing rotations in different specialties.

In addition to their work at CHOC Children's, Jenae is a President of the Medical Humanities Student Interest Group at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) since January 2023. Jenae also serves as a CHLA Representative for the Pediatric Student Interest Group at USC, facilitating connections between medical students and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for shadowing and mentorship opportunities.

Furthermore, they have experience as a Biomentor at UCSB Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Department, where they mentor second-year pre-biology students through biology courses. Jenae has been a UCSB Clinical Health Peer and a Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Barbara's Children's Center, gaining valuable experience in child supervision and classroom activities.

Jenae has also demonstrated their commitment to community service through their involvement with Partners in Wellness, a UCSB campus organization that volunteers at Cottage Health in Santa Barbara. Jenae has served as the Director of Shadowing, leading hospital rounds and engaging with patients. Additionally, they have worked as a Clinical Data Specialist at TekTeam Medical Consulting and as medical staff at Camp Conrad Chinnock, a camp for children with Type 1 diabetes.

Lastly, Jenae has experience as a Kidzone Childcare Specialist at the YMCA of Orange County, where they supervised and organized activities for children of various age groups. Overall, Jenae Vancura has developed a well-rounded skill set through their diverse work experience in the healthcare and educational fields.

Jenae Vancura pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara between 2017 and 2021. Jenae then attended the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California from 2022 to 2026, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine. Additionally, they hold certifications in GCP - Social and Behavioral Research Best Practices for Clinical Research, Medical Student Learner - Biomedical Human Subjects, Social/Behavioral, and CPR & AED.
