Karla Castaneda

Karla Castaneda has a diverse work experience starting in 2014. Karla worked as an Instructional Assistant and Tutor at Immaculate Conception School in Los Angeles from August 2014 to July 2018. Karla then interned at the LAPD from February 2017 to February 2021. Following that, Karla worked as a Domestic Violence Case Manager at CASA DE LA FAMILIA from July 2018 to February 2021, where they provided crisis intervention and facilitated trainings for law enforcement partners. Currently, they are employed as a Care Coordinator at Children's Institute, starting in March 2021. In this role, Karla identifies clients' needs, coordinates services with providers, and assists in providing appropriate services to children and families affected by trauma in their community.

Karla Castaneda attended Mount Saint Mary's University from 2014 to 2018. During this time, they obtained an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. Karla then continued their education at the same university, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Karla'smajor was Children and Adolescents, and they also pursued a minor in Criminology.

In terms of certifications, Karla completed several courses. Karla obtained their certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor from the YWCA Glendale in February 2021. In April 2018, they received the California Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter for Mental Health and Social Workers certification from the California Department of Social Services. Additionally, Karla became a Domestic Violence Counselor through the YWCA of Glendale in April 2018. Lastly, they completed the web-based training course "Protecting Human Research Participants" offered by the National Institutes of Health Office of Extramural Research, although the specific month and year of completion are unknown.
