Derek Sliger

Derek Sliger has extensive work experience in the field of information security. Derek currently holds the position of Sr. Director Information Security at Children's Health, where they have been working since November 2020. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Cyber Risk Management at the same company from December 2019 to November 2020.

Before joining Children's Health, Derek worked as an Enterprise Security Architect at RightSourcing, Inc. from June 2015 to December 2019. Derek also worked as an Independent Consultant, specializing in Enterprise Security Architecture, from September 2013 to December 2019.

Derek's previous roles include being a Senior Network Security Architect at Emdeon from April 2011 to October 2013, and serving as an Info Security Engineer II at Baylor Health Care Systems from April 2008 to April 2012.

Derek'sconsiderable work experience also includes a long tenure at Healthcare Corporation of America, where they held the position of Acting Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) / Director Information Security from October 1997 to December 2008. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of Information Security for the company, including defining security policies and standards, managing information security contracts, and directing the overall security architecture.

Derek's early career includes being a Technical Manager at CST Microsystems from April 1996 to October 1997, and working as a Systems Administrator at Systems Engineering Solutions Incorporated from November 1990 to April 1996. In their role at Systems Engineering Solutions Incorporated, they provided network and systems support for various organizations, managed and completed multiple projects, and maintained a "Secret" security clearance.

Derek Sliger attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 1984 to 1989, where they studied Information Technology. Derek did not obtain a degree from this institution. Derek Sliger also holds certifications in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)², and CCSFP and CISSP certifications from undisclosed institutions.
