Michelle McGuire has a diverse range of work experience. Michelle started their career as a paralegal at Mundy, Holt, and Mance in 1990 before moving on to become an associate at Labat-Anderson Incorporated, where they focused on coordinating proposal bids for international private sector development contracts. In 1994, they worked as a summer associate at Lehman Brothers, providing financial analysis and corporate valuation for various sectors. From 1995 to 2005, as a senior manager at Deloitte, they led consulting and client teams, specializing in strategic operations and business process improvements for Fortune 100 companies in the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. In 2007, they joined The University of Chicago as an academic advisor. During their time there, they also served on the Chicago Careers in the Art Steering Committee. In 2012, they became the Vice President and Chief of Staff at Children's National Hospital. Michelle was responsible for implementing strategic priorities and objectives with the CEO and executive team. Michelle later served as the Interim Chief Strategy Officer, leading partnership negotiations, developing marketing plans, and negotiating agreements. In 2021, they were promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at the hospital.

Michelle McGuire received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Smith College in 1990. Michelle then went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance from NYU Stern School of Business in 1995.
