Ely De La Cruz, LCSW has a well-rounded work experience in the field of social work. They began their career as a Licensed Clinician at Puerto Rican Family Institute in 2005 and worked in that position until 2011. During this time, they provided clinical services to clients. In 2011, they transitioned to WHEDco where they worked as a Family Support Worker until 2013. At WHEDco, they supported families in need of assistance. In 2013, they joined Lutheran Social Services of New York as a Supervisor of Clinical Services, where they supervised the clinical services provided to clients. In 2015, they were promoted to the position of Director of Preventive Services- Family Treatment/ Rehabilitation Program, which they held until 2020. In this role, they oversaw and managed preventive services focused on family treatment and rehabilitation. In the same year, they also joined Puerto Rican Family Institute as a Clinical Supervisor until the end of that year. In 2020, Ely De La Cruz joined The Children's Village as a Program Manager, and in 2021, they were promoted to the positions of Clinical Program Director, Subject Matter Expert/Trainer, and currently hold the role of Director of Quality Improvement.

Ely De La Cruz, LCSW, holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Social Welfare, which was obtained from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, Ely obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stony Brook University from 1998 to 2003. The Bachelor's degree included a major in Psychology, with additional focus on Social Sciences Interdisciplinary and Child and Family Studies.

In addition to the academic qualifications, Ely has also obtained two additional certifications. One of them is the certification as a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor from the Crisis Prevention Institute, which was achieved in August 2022. The other certification is the Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI), obtained from Lehman College, although the specific date of obtaining this certification is not provided.
