ChildSavers
Melissa Nelson is a seasoned mental health clinician currently working at Summit EH since May 2023 and serving as a board member for both the Virginia State Board of Health and ChildSavers. Previously, Melissa was involved with the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors from July 2019 to July 2023 and practiced as a pediatrician at Pediatric Associates of Richmond from 2004 until July 2023. Additional board membership includes a position with PACKids from 2011 to 2019. Melissa held leadership as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at St Mary’s Hospital within the Bon Secours Health System between 2008 and 2010 and served as faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Hospital for Special Surgery from 2002 to 2004. Melissa obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Finance from Virginia Tech.

ChildSavers
ChildSavers (formerly Memorial Child Guidance Clinic) is a source of hope for Central Virginia’s children. Founded in 1924, ChildSavers works to ensure that all children are safe, healthy, happy, and ready to learn. We provide trauma response, mental health counseling and early childhood development services so that children have a chance to reach their potential and thrive. ChildSavers is a community-supported 501(c)3 nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. ChildSavers is licensed by the State of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Child and Family Services.
