Marisha Sonnier-Bailey

Marisha Sonnier-Bailey has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Marisha is currently working at the Chinese Community Center, where they hold the position of Housing Program Manager and previously worked as a Housing Counselor. Prior to this, they were employed at the Gulf Coast Community Services Association, Inc., starting as a Family Services Associate and later becoming a Family Empowerment Specialist. Their responsibilities in these roles included providing support, guidance, and resources to ensure compliance with Head Start policies, building community partnerships, and assisting families transitioning out of the program. Additionally, they served as a Board Member for Resources Inspiring Success and Empowering RISE, contributing to transitional services for youth and young adults in foster care. Marisha also gained experience as a Counselor Intern at the SICKLE CELL ASSOCIATION OF HOUSTON, offering advocacy and counseling services to patients and their families.

Marisha Sonnier-Bailey completed their education with a Masters of Science degree from Walden University in Human and Social Services, which they obtained between 2018 and 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Social Sciences from the University of Houston, from 1990 to 1995.

In addition to their academic degrees, Marisha Sonnier-Bailey has also obtained certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Marisha is a HUD Certified Counselor, having received this certification from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in January 2022.
