B. Mahadevan

Prof. B. Mahadevan is the Founder Vice Chancellor of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (2016-2018). Presently, Prof. Mahadevan is a professor of Operations Management at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, where he has been teaching since 1992. Prof. Mahadevan has over 30 years of wide-ranging experience in teaching, research, consulting, and academic administration at IIM Bangalore and other reputed institutions such as IIT Delhi and XLRI, Jamshedpur. He was a visiting scholar at the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, from 1999–2000. He was also a retainer consultant to Deloitte Consulting LLP, USA, from 2001–2002. He was earlier Chief Editor of the IIMB Management Review.

Professor has published numerous papers in refereed and non-refereed journals and has also authored books. He is a much sought-after resource person for workshops and conferences on the domains of IKS, Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and related subject areas. Following his tenure at CVV, Prof. Mahadevan and two former CVV faculty, Prof. Vinayak Rajat Bhat and Prof. Nagendra Pavana co-authored a book on “Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems, Concepts and Applications” which is now used as a textbook by thousands of institutions in India.

Professor Mahadevan’s research interests include researching the possibility of using ancient Indian wisdom to address contemporary concerns, spirituality in the workplace, and management paradigms from the Bhagavad Gita. In the traditional areas of management, his research interests include the design of service systems in customer co-creation of value and order allocation issues in electronic markets.
