Matthew Cockrell

Matthew Cockrell is a seasoned hardware engineer with extensive experience in the technology sector. Currently, Matthew has been employed at Google since January 2015 and serves as a hardware engineer. In addition, Matthew holds the position of Chair of the CHIPS Alliance Governing Board, a role started in October 2022. Prior to these roles, Matthew worked as an FPGA Design Engineer at Sierra Photonics, Inc. from November 2011 to January 2015, and at Lockheed Martin from August 2008 to November 2011. Early career experiences include an internship at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2006-2007 and an internship at Contra Costa County between 2004 and 2006. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, completing studies from 2006 to 2008.
