Sarah Vander Baan has a strong background in special education. Sarah started their career as a Special Education Teacher at Benton Harbor Area Schools in 2003. Sarah later worked as a Kindergarten Teacher at American International School-Hong Kong from 2004 to 2007. Sarah then became a Special Education Teacher at Wyoming Public Schools from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they worked as a Special Education Teacher/Intervention Specialist at National Heritage Academies from 2010 to 2016. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Special Education Director at Choice Schools Associates, which they started in 2016.
Sarah Vander Baan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Learning Disabilities and Early Childhood Education at Aquinas College - Grand Rapids from 1998 to 2003. Sarah then pursued their Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree with a focus on Special Education and Learning Disabilities at Grand Valley State University from 2007 to 2012. Sarah continued their education at the same institution, completing their second Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership Special Education Administration from 2015 to 2020.
