Marcela G.

Marcela G. has over 15 years of experience in software engineering, project management, and teaching. Marcela started their career in 2005 as a Business Analyst and Software Coordinator at Pitang, where they managed a cross-functional team of 50+ software developers and coordinated the development and delivery of 10+ software projects for the Central Bank of Brazil. Marcela also served as a Professor at Unibratec CTDS, lecturing "Web Programming Languages" and designing curriculum and preparing course material.

In 2013, Marcela G. became the Delivery Center Group Manager at Avanade, leading 150+ software engineers, software architects, test engineers, team leaders, and project managers. Marcela was also responsible for the recruitment of senior software analysts and project managers, and mentored and coached 10+ project managers.

From 2014 to 2019, Marcela G. held various roles at Muse® by Interaxon Inc., including Software Engineering Manager, Scrum Master, and Director of Software Engineering. In these roles, they managed multiple cross-functional project teams of 5-10+ professionals each, created an environment of highly collaborative and effective teamwork, and was responsible for release management.

Additionally, Marcela G. has held various teaching positions since 2005, including Visiting Professor at Laureate International Universities and Universidade Católica de Pernambuco, and Learning Assistant at George Brown College. Marcela has also provided consultancy services to 5+ organizations about project management and agile methodologies, and lectured classes to 50+ students about project management and agile methodologies such as Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP and SAFe.

Marcela G. has an extensive education history. Marcela obtained their Master's degree in Computer Science and Information Retrieval from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in 2001. Marcela then went on to earn their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Sergipe in 1998. In 2014, they completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Leadership from CEDEPE Business School. More recently, Marcela G. has been studying Business - Human Resource Management at George Brown College since 2017. In addition, Marcela G. has obtained several certifications, such as Designing Strategy from IDEO U in 2022, Leading Complex Projects from IDEO U in 2021, Certified Lean Inception Facilitator from Caroli.org in 2020, PMI-ACP: Agile Certified Practitioner from Project Management Institute in 2012, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance in 2010, Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner from Scrum Alliance in 2014, Certified Scrum Professional - ScrumMaster from Scrum Alliance in 2014, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from Scrum Alliance in 2009, Behavioral Analyst from Instituto Brasileiro de Coaching - IBC, ITIL V3 Foundation from APMG, and Transitioning from Manager to Leader from Lynda.com.
