James Allington has a diverse work experience in engineering and consulting. James currently holds the position of Senior Director of Engineering at ChromoLogic LLC, starting in August 2021. Prior to this, they were the owner of Allington Consulting since January 2014.
From September 2013 to July 2021, Allington worked at The Pilot Group as a Mechanical Engineer, where they were responsible for building and testing optical systems, designing and building pressure transducer technology for the aerospace industry, and operating a forklift.
In addition, they worked as an engineer at BotLab from April 2015 to September 2016.
Allington's earlier work includes serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at California State University, Fullerton from November 2012 to January 2014, where they collaborated on designing and building an 8 bar linkage end effector. James also worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Hydra-Electric Company from May 2013 to September 2013 and as a Mechanical Engineering Instructor at California State University, Los Angeles from January 2013 to July 2013.
Allington began their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine from September 2005 to October 2012.
James Allington received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from UC Irvine, where they studied from 2005 to 2013. In addition, they obtained a certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer from the State of California in December 2015.
