Alvin Chowles has over 25 years of work experience, starting as a Senior Lecturer at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University from 1995 to 2004. Alvin then moved on to Research Laboratories of Australia, where they held the position of Senior Research Scientist and Senior Project Manager from 2005 to 2010. At RLA, their responsibilities included experimental work, project management, and client liaison. From 2010 to 2016, Alvin worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Global R&D Manager and Global R&D and Engineering Manager. Currently, they are working at Chrysos Corporation, where they started as a Program Manager in 2017 and has since held positions as an Operations Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
Alvin Chowles completed their MSc in Physics at the University of Port Elizabeth from 1992 to 1993. Following this, they pursued further education and earned a PhD in Physics from the same university between 1994 and 1999.
