Erin Whitney

Erin Whitney is a faculty member and has served as the director of the Solar Technologies Program as well as the Data Collection & Analysis Program at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) at the University of Alaska. Her research focuses on the characterization and integration of solar photovoltaics and other sustainable energy technologies in Arctic environments. Before returning home to Alaska and starting a career in academia, Whitney spent almost a decade as a scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. Dr. Whitney is an active member of the community, serving as a non-profit board member, organizing the Nordic Ski Association's annual Ski 4 Kids program, and managing youth hockey teams. She was elected to the board in May 2021, serves as the Vice Chair of the Governance Committee, and is a member of the Operations Committee. She is a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Credentialed Cooperative Director. Her term expires in May 2025.
