Paul Cunliffe has extensive work experience in various communication and leadership roles. Paul currently serves as the Chief Corporate Affairs and Client Communications Officer at CIBC Mellon, where they are responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to support the company's strategic plan and priorities. Prior to this, they held roles as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer and Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing at CIBC Mellon.
Before joining CIBC Mellon, Paul worked at BMO Financial Group, where they served as Director of Public & Government Relations/Media Relations, Senior Manager of HR Communications, and Senior Manager of Communications and Director of Operations. In these roles, they led teams and developed and executed communication strategies to enhance the company's external image and strengthen employee engagement.
Earlier in their career, Paul worked at the Office of the Premier of Ontario, where they held positions such as Senior Advisor & Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Manager of Operations & Manager of Premier's Communication, and Special Assistant, Strategic Planning and Communication. Paul also worked as a Special Assistant, Legislative and Issues Management at the Office of the Hon. Jim Flaherty, Minister of Labour.
Paul began their career as a Special Events Coordinator for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in communication, change management, issue/risk management, and stakeholder relations.
Paul Cunliffe completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Economy at the University of Guelph from 1988 to 1992. Paul then went on to pursue their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science and Government at the same university from 1992 to 1993.
