Shawn Beber

Shawn Beber leads CIBC’s U.S. Region, which includes middle market commercial banking, wealth management, private banking and retail and digital banking, as well as oversight for all Capital Markets activities in the United States. He leads a team expanding our U.S. franchise as part of our strong North American platform.

Shawn joined CIBC in 2002 and most recently served as Chief Risk Officer. He has held senior roles including General Counsel, head of Strategy and Corporate Development and head of U.S. Capital Markets. He was also instrumental in a number of U.S. acquisitions, including the acquisition of The PrivateBank, and he played a lead role in building the growth platform we have today. Prior to joining CIBC, he began his career practicing corporate law at a leading Toronto law firm.

Shawn is a graduate of the combined Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws (JD/MBA) program from the University of Toronto and holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario. He’s a member of the Law Society of Ontario. He is based in Chicago.
