Howard R. Levin

Dr. Levin is a cardiologist and an expert in the care of patients with heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical cardiac assistance extensively towards the integration of cardiac, respiratory and renal physiology into novel therapeutic solutions for clinical practice. Instrumental in the clinical trials and regulatory approval of the Thermo CardioSystems, Inc. HeartMate® LVAD and several other devices, Dr. Levin is an author of 44 issued U.S. patents and more than 100 medical and scientific publications. His inventions and co-inventions were instrumental in founding and the formation Ardian, CHF Solutions, eValve, Cardiac Concepts, Nephros and Cardio Technologies, where he served in numerous roles including Chief Medical Officer, Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of R&D.

Dr. Levin received his M.D. from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and his training in cardiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was previously an assistant professor, a heart failure/transplant cardiologist and the medical director of the Artificial Heart program at New York Presbyterian-Columbia. Dr. Levin also has graduate-level training in both cardiovascular physiology and biomedical engineering, including a master’s degree in biomedical engineering.
