Utku Alakusu

Utku Alakusu is a Senior High Speed Analog Design Engineer at Ciena since October 2025, with extensive experience in designing high-performance analog circuits for optical communication systems. Prior to Ciena, Utku held the position of Senior Analog Design Engineer at Nubis Communications, where responsibilities included leading the design of low-power 100 Gbps and 200 Gbps PAM4 TIAs. Experience at Nokia as a Senior RFIC Design Engineer involved designing and laying out 128 Gbaud TIAs and modulator drivers. Utku completed a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, where research focused on a wideband 240 GHz receiver for quantum computing and cryogenic characterization of FDSOI CMOS technology. Other roles include layout design engineering at Rambus and internships at Rambus and Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. Utku's academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto and an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Kungsholmen Gymnasium.
