Joana Vieira

Joana Vieira is an experienced professional in the fields of biology, ecology, and environmental education. Currently serving as an Assistente de Projetos at Ciência Viva, Joana is involved in creating educational resources, organizing workshops, and participating in various national and European projects focused on sustainability and scientific communication. Previous roles include Técnica de Educação e Sensibilização Ambiental at SUMA, where leadership was demonstrated in waste valorization initiatives, and Estagiária de Gestora de Projeto at BCSD Portugal, supporting sustainability training programs. Joana's early career included positions as Educadora Científica at Neurónio Curiosos, planning science enrichment activities for primary education, and as a researcher at the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes, where ecological studies were conducted on lichen diversity and urban ecosystem services. Joana holds a Mestrado in Ecologia e Gestão Ambiental and a Licenciatura in Biologia from the University of Lisbon.
