James Cann

James Cann has a diverse work experience in data science and research. James is currently working as a Data Scientist at Circadia Health since June 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Research Fellow at UCL from January 2020 to April 2022, where they focused on researching machine learning tools and developing predictive analytics tools for UCLH. James also gained experience as a Data Science Fellow at Faculty in 2019, where they completed a data science project with HSBC GBM's Data & Analytics Lab and presented the results at Faculty's Data Science Demo Day. Additionally, they worked as a Data Scientist at HSBC Global Banking and Markets in 2019, where they used big data technologies to explore and design features for machine learning models.

James Cann attended Durham University from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (MMath). James then pursued further education at UCL from 2014 to 2019, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mathematics. James also obtained several certifications, including "Bayesian Statistics: Time Series Analysis" from Coursera in May 2022, "Probabilistic Graphical Models Specialization" from Coursera in February 2021, and "A Crash Course in Causality: Inferring Causal Effects from Observational Data" from Coursera in November 2020. Additionally, they acquired certifications from DataCamp, including "Intermediate Data Visualization with ggplot2" in August 2020, "Data Visualization with ggplot2 (Part 1)" in June 2020, "Intermediate R" in June 2020, and "Nonlinear Modeling in R with GAMs" in May 2020. Furthermore, James completed various Coursera certifications, including "Convolutional Neural Networks," "Deep Learning Specialization," "Sequence Models," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," and "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" in 2019 and 2019 respectively.
