Senior Advisor On Extractives Strategy And The World Circular Economy Forum at Circular Economy Leadership Canada

Alan Young is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainability and environmental leadership. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor on Extractives Strategy at Circular Economy Leadership Canada since August 2018, Alan plays a pivotal role in advancing the circular economy in Canada by fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders. As Director of the Materials Efficiency Research Group since February 2003, Alan has facilitated efforts across conservation groups, indigenous organizations, and various levels of government to enhance sustainability in the extractive sector globally. Alan's previous roles include Senior Advisor on Corporate Engagement for the International Boreal Conservation Campaign and Executive Director of the Environmental Mining Council of BC. Additionally, Alan contributed to the collaborative management of the Porcupine Caribou Herd as Director of the Secretariat for the Porcupine Caribou Management Board. Alan holds a BA in Geography and Communications from Simon Fraser University.

The Circular Economy Leadership Canada is a not-for-profit alliance of corporate and NGO leaders, think tanks and sustainability experts who believe Canada can be a world leader in adopting sustainable, prosperous, zero-waste, low-carbon-emitting solutions for a global Circular Economy.
