Marcus T. Ellis has extensive experience in community engagement and violence prevention, currently serving as the Deputy of Impact for Cities United since October 2020 and as Chief of Staff for the District of Columbia’s Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement since October 2018. In previous roles, Ellis directed the Community Partnerships Office for Safer, Stronger DC, and served as Superintendent of the New Beginnings Youth Development Center. Past positions include Executive Director of the National Federation of State High School Associations and Director of Athletics at District of Columbia Public Schools. Early work involved various management roles within DC Government's Department of Parks and Recreation. Marcus T. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Bowie State University.
