Alibek Zhambyl

Alibek Zhambyl, CFA, FMVA, currently serves as the Head of Markets Treasury desk at Citi since April 2025, focusing on asset and liability management. Parallel to this role, Alibek has been a lecturer at outpeer.kz since August 2022. Previously, Alibek held several positions at Halyk Bank from March 2017 to January 2025, including Head of Trading and VP Trader of Treasury, where involvement included significant projects such as a merger of two major financial institutions in Kazakhstan and co-leading the trading desk's strategy. Alibek also has experience as an Associate Trader and has taught CFA Level I and II candidates at BCPD_AIFC and equity and fixed income instruments at the University of International Business. Early career roles included economist positions at Asia Gas Pipeline and JSC AB Bank of China (Kazakhstan). Alibek holds a Master's degree in Business Finance from Queen Mary University of London and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Finance from Narxoz University.
