Michael Hickey

Michael Hickey is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in community development and education. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at the Citizens Committee for New York City since November 2022, Michael leads operations and strategy in microgranting to foster grassroots community change. Prior roles include Executive Director for Students in Temporary Housing at the NYC Department of Education, where Michael managed 350 staff members to support over 100,000 affected students, and Director of Strategy and Partnerships for Community Schools. As founding executive of Civic Consulting USA, Michael facilitated public-private partnerships to address critical issues facing communities. Michael also directed the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, overseeing a major foreclosure prevention initiative, and worked in finance with Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust. Michael holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA in English Literature from Ohio University, along with esteemed leadership training from Coro.
