Julia Fernandez (Pledl)

Julia (Pledl) Fernandez is an experienced educator currently serving as the 5th Grade Lead Teacher and Grade Level Lead Planner at Citizens of the World Charter Schools since August 2019. In this role, Julia focuses on curriculum development and fostering an inquiry-led, constructivist classroom that emphasizes anti-bias and anti-racist education. Prior experience includes five years as a 6th Grade Teacher and Instructional Coach at New Heights Charter School, where Julia championed differentiation and socio-emotional development in a culturally responsive environment. Julia has also contributed to the education field as a Literacy Coach for Growing Educators Inc., facilitating professional development workshops, and has presented at conferences. Julia's educational background includes a Master of Education from UCLA and a BA in Acting from Liverpool John Moores University.
