Benjamin Petty

Managing Director, Finance at Citizen Schools

Benjamin Petty is currently the Managing Director of Finance at Citizen Schools. Prior to this, they served as the Principal Budget Analyst for the City of Plano from April 2013 to January 2020. In this role, they were responsible for providing team leadership and development, as well as the implementation of the Core Business Matrix, the Water and Sewer Rate Model, Sales Tax Rate Model, Three-year Financial Forecast, performance based budgeting, and the development of future financial micro and macro economic strategies. Benjamin was also the primary lead in the development of the "Open Data" initiative with the creation of the online transparency portal.

From July 2009 to March 2013, Petty served as the Budget Manager for the City of Wylie, Texas. In this role, they were responsible for the preparation, monitoring and management of both operating and capital project budgets, as well as the multi-year financial forecasts for all budgeted funds based on past and projected performance. Benjamin also developed and maintained rate structures, rate and cost allocation and cost recovery plans, revenue forecasts, and other revenue-related components.

Prior to their work in local government, Petty served as Financial Manager at Ernst & Young from September 2007 to February 2009.

Benjamin Petty has a Master of Business Administration - MBA from The University of Texas at Dallas and a B.S.B.A in Business and Finance from the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas. Benjamin is also certified as a Public Manager from Texas State University.
