Jorge Gonzalez is Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of City National Bank of Florida, the state’s third-largest financial institution, which is among the Top 100 in the country.

Jorge has more than 30 years of banking experience and has held various high-profile executive positions. A native Miamian, he places community, education, health, and culture at the heart of his driving philosophy.

Since he took the reins of City National Bank of Florida in 2009, Jorge has diversified and expanded the bank to include: Business and Personal Banking, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Commercial Real Estate, and specialty finance subsidiary BciCapital.

Driven by the vision to be Florida’s iconic bank, Jorge has grown the bank from $3 billion in tangible assets to over $20 billion. Currently, City National Bank of Florida has more than 900 employees and 32 Banking Centers from South to Central Florida. Jorge helped redesign the bank's business model in an innovative way, focusing on our clients and our community while emphasizing an exceptional client experience, building long-lasting relationships, and investing in the communities we serve.

Under Jorge’s leadership, City National Bank of Florida has received numerous awards and industry recognition. In 2013 and 2019 City National Bank of Florida was named Business of the Year by the South Florida Business Journal and was awarded the Outstanding Community Service Award for the work City National Bank of Florida does did in the community in 2012.

In 2016 and 2017, City National Bank of Florida was ranked among the “Best Banks to work for” by American Banker magazine. The readers of the Daily Business Review have voted City National Bank as the “Best Community Bank”, “Best Business Bank”, “Best Bank for Commercial Real Estate”, “Best Bank for Jumbo Loans”, “Best Private Bank”, “Best Foreign National Mortgage Lender”, and “Best Wealth Management” for seven consecutive years.

In addition, Jorge has twice been named “Ultimate CEO” by the South Florida Business Journal and recognized among the “Top Ten Leaders” by Hispanic Executive Magazine in 2017. In 2019 he received the SFBW Apogee Award and was honored as Corporate Citizen of the Year by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Jorge is active in several charity and community organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital System and the Institute of Contemporary Art. He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. Prior community roles include executive committee positions with United Way, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Beacon Council, Downtown Development Authority, Museum of Discovery and Science, and the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from Florida International University and is a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Leadership Training program at the University of North Carolina. Jorge is married to Melinda Gonzalez and is the proud father of teenage twins.
