Scott Chan is an experienced professional in environmental sustainability, public health, and education. Currently serving on the Environmental Sustainability Commission and as a Human Relations Commissioner for the City of Alhambra, Scott also holds the title of Founder at Rising Tides. As a Senior Staff Analyst and Acting Director of the Center for Health Equity at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, extensive expertise has been demonstrated in health equity initiatives. Scott is active in philanthropy as a Steering Committee Member for the Los Angeles Chapter of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) and contributes to academia as a Visiting Professor at Pitzer College. Previous roles include Planning Commissioner and Transportation Commissioner for the City of Alhambra, and multiple positions with Kaiser Permanente and California State University, Fullerton, including Regional Chair and Guest Lecturer, respectively. Scott holds an MPA in Nonprofit Management from California State University, Northridge, and a BA in Political Science and Asian American Studies from UCLA.

Located in Los Angeles County, Alhambra is the “Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley.” It is bordered to the north by South Pasadena and San Marino, to the east by San Gabriel, to the south by Monterey Park and to the west by Los Angeles. The City of Alhambra was incorporated in 1903 and chartered in 1915 with a Council-City Manager form of government. Alhambra is a full-service City with 4 major parks, public library, an 18-hole municipal golf course, more than 30 churches, community hospital, theaters, shopping centers and business and industrial districts. There are also 13 elementary schools, 4 high schools and 7 private schools within Alhambra’s boundaries. The campus of California State University at Los Angeles is located adjacent to Alhambra.
