Erin Carpenter

Head Instructor - Taekwondo at City of Ames, Iowa

Erin Carpenter has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. In 2006 and 2007, they worked as an intern at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Confluence, respectively. From 2008 to 2010, Erin continued their internship at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, assisting landscape architects and participating in community design charrettes. In 2009, they joined the City of Ames, Iowa, as a Head Instructor for Taekwondo, where they managed a team of instructors and developed a curriculum. From 2011 to 2015, Erin worked as a Barista at Arcadia Cafe, providing exceptional customer service and assisting with training new hires. Additionally, from 2015 to 2021, Erin worked as a Ceramic Artist where they managed all aspects of designing, producing, and selling products, as well as conducting workshops and receiving multiple awards. Since 2021, Erin has been working at Green Iowa AmeriCorps as a Team Leader and a Project Development Coordinator. In these roles, they have served as a resource for new AmeriCorps members, organized and led training activities, secured and executed grants, and identified new partnerships with local organizations.

Erin Carpenter obtained a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. Erin attended the university from 2003 to 2008. In addition to their degree, Erin Carpenter has acquired several certifications. In 2023, they completed the "Leadership Marshalltown" program offered by the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce and the "Your Leadership Edge" program provided by the Kansas Leadership Center. In 2022, Erin obtained the certification for "Grant Writing for Nonprofits" from Green Iowa AmeriCorps and completed the "Local Food Leader 101" program offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in March.
