Whitney Garcia

Whitney Garcia is an experienced recreation professional currently serving as the Recreation Supervisor at the City of Ankeny since March 2013, overseeing the Albaugh Community Center, which features a gym, track, fitness equipment, and other amenities. Prior to this role, Whitney worked as a Recreation Specialist at Fort Bragg FMWR from June 2010 to March 2013, managing the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program and supporting event planning and program evaluation for over 29,000 Single Soldiers. Earlier experience includes a Graduate Assistant position at Camp Adventure Child & Youth Services, where Whitney assisted in processing substantial grants and managing educational awards for college students, as well as an internship at the West Des Moines Parks & Recreation Department, gaining exposure to multiple facets of recreation management. Whitney holds a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Leisure, Youth & Human Services from the University of Northern Iowa.
