Michele Alonso

Michele Alonso is an experienced urban planning professional currently serving as the Director of Planning and Redevelopment for the City of Asbury Park since July 2015. Prior to this role, Michele held various positions at the City of Newark, including Assistant Director of Planning and Supervising Planner, where responsibilities included managing the Zoning Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission and overseeing redevelopment planning and zoning ordinance revisions. Additionally, Michele has experience as a Planning Consultant and previously served as Supervising Planner for the City of Jersey City. Educational qualifications include a Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and a BA in Sociology from Drew University.
