Bruce Jones

Bruce Jones currently serves as the Executive Director of the Columbia River Maritime Museum since November 2017 and holds the position of Mayor for the City of Astoria since January 2019. Previous experience includes roles as Deputy Director at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and Helicopter Pilot for Columbia River Bar Pilots. Bruce's extensive career in the U.S. Coast Guard includes leadership positions such as Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans during the response to Hurricane Katrina, and Captain of the Port at both Coast Guard Sector Columbia River and Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University's Maxwell School, a Bachelor’s Degree in East Asian Studies and German from Washington and Lee University, and participation in the Seminar 21 Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bruce also completed an exchange program at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
