Doug Shipman

Doug Shipman currently serves as the Atlanta City Council President, a position held since January 2022. Previously, Doug was the President and CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center from July 2017 to August 2020, overseeing major cultural institutions in Midtown Atlanta. Doug has also held the role of CEO and Managing Director at BrightHouse Consulting, a BCG company, from July 2015 to June 2017, and was the founding CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta from February 2007 to June 2015, leading a $100MM+ project. Doug's earlier experience includes a principal role at the Boston Consulting Group and positions in profitability analysis at Fleet Bank and Signet Bank. Educational credentials include an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, an MTS from Harvard Divinity School, and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Emory University.
